Parody fantasia. Tabla entry: “Fantasia en el tercero grado remedando de la mitad adelante a un benedictus…”
Straightforward short work of 89 compases. Parody is executed similarly to Mudarra’s glosas.
Begins with 3 voices making 4 entries of Mouton’s 1st theme, with note values diminished by half: that is pseudo a4 but really a3, (the 3rd entry doesn’t accord spacially with model, others do).
Then free polyphony to 43 where the original music dovetails into an intabulation of 2nd half of parody work. That is from the 23rd bar of the Benedictus edition. Benedictus = 46 bars length. 23/46 = 1/2; 43/89 aprox. equal 1/2. Conscious concern by Valderrabano for exact ratios that is formal structure. Pich-up point in model is completely arbitrary.
