Polythematic imitative fantasia, with substantial free sections, although graph will show the higher percentage of imitation than the preceding couple of works. Reasonably attractive work, but still rather directionless. Work is entirely imitative to bar 25, then increasingly less so until 37. 38-60 is free – and a little superius dominated.
I (1-16) inc 1a, 1b & 2. (2 is variant of 1b). II has theme 3 then motive 4 as part of coda. 5 begins at 30. Many of the thematic statements are varied so themes catalogued are idealized in several instances.
