Polythematic imitative fantasia with free sections. 1st fantasia of segundo tono group. Pujol rightly points to the thematic links with preceding tiento. Pujol: “Esta misma fantasia se encuentra libremente glosada en el Libro de… de Venegas (No 57, pág. 81). Su extensión es reducida, de veintiséis compases…” (p.72). Brown concorde. The work alternates imitative / free sections, however only I is strict. The major tonal argument is between F and d. Begins in F. Crazy cadences at 29-30 and 51-52. Beautiful homophonic passages in last section. Mudarra frequently follows strict exposition in I with free passage.
