Commentary
Intabulation of an anonymous three-voice villancico. Several other settings of the same text are known. A setting by Peñolosa is in the Cancionero de Palacio (no. 302 in Anglés edition). A piece with similar text is found in “Villancicos de diversos autores” (1556 = Cancionero de Uppsala), no 22: Ay de mi qu’ en tierra agena. The text is found in Evora, Bibl. Pub. CXIV.1.17, fol. 9a (Steunou and Knapp) “A tyerras agenas quien me trajo a elhas”.
